Welcome to Casco Viejo, Panama, the historic district of the nation’s capital. Casco Viejo is a low-impact peninsula located 5 minutes from the downtown banking district, 15 minutes from Albrook Domestic Airport, 25 minutes from Tocumen International Airport. Once the heart of Panama City, Casco Viejo then became less savory over several decades of decay. Now, Casco Viejo is the preliminary cultural and arts district in the country. It is home to museums, restaurants, bars, schools, galleries, hotels, and churches dating back 400 years.
Casco Viejo offers an authentic setting for getting to know the real Panama City, saving all the high rises and try-hard restaurants for another vacation. It is a neighborhood with a dense population of locals (both foreigners and Panamanians) that is acknowledged by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site for its role in the history of the Americas. Casco Viejo is often said to be Panama’s truest neighborhood as in the areas of social programs, community building, and diversity. In the photos we have taken above, you can see that Casco Viejo is colorful, alive, rustic and real. Come stay with us!
