So you currently live in some very cool place, probably one of the most impressive or progressive cities in the world like San Francisco or New York. You eat great food on a daily basis, you brush with organic toothpaste, you use your smartphone to reserve parking spaces, and you’re looking for a little vacation. I’m a Seattle-native who owns a boutique Panama hotel. My name is Evan. And I once had a Kindle. Let me introduce you to my world…
My Panama hotel, Los Cuatro Tulipanes, is actually a fleet of restored historic apartments located in Panama City’s UNESCO World Heritage Site called Casco Viejo. Each unit is complete with free wi-fi, direct TV, a/c, fully equipped kitchens, ipod docks…etc and we rent them out on a nightly basis as a refreshing (and freakin’ obligatory) alternative to the shitty hotels in Panama City. Our Panama hotel rooms range from $150 (1bedroom) to $250 (2bedroom) per night and we pretty much guarantee that our neighborhood will blow your socks off. It’s a 400 year-old mix of French/Spanish architecture, stray dogs, tequila bars, crackheads, prefix tapas haunts, millionaires, churches ransacked by the pirate Captain Morgan, 1 gang who we play soccer with every Friday, and rooftop pool cabanas: this is all to say, we live in (and this has been quoted by the NYT) possibly the most interesting neighborhood in the Americas.
So what do you do? Take a look through our hotel units above, have a read through our blog where you can find more babble about the ‘hood, and book a few nights with us (we recommend 3 to get the full feel of Casco). Let us set you up on some badass tours, let us invite you out for a shot of local Seco, and experience a neighborhood so different and authentic that you’ll consider moving here yourself.
In the mean time, feel free to page through our TripAdvisor reviews (we’re ranked #1 B&B in Panama) or get straight to the advice from adventurous travelers who appreciate luxury just like you…
- New Yorker thinks our Panama hotel is “cool as hell”
- San Francisco cat looking for something extraordinary
- Sometimes we can even OUT-COOL the hipsters!
- Does your Spanish suck? Ours doesn’t!!!
That’s about it! I look forward to chatting with you if you consider yourself the right fit for Casco Viejo. I am also available to answer any questions about travel throughout the rest of Panama (island jaunts, beach hopping, hiking with jaguars…etc). Remember, Casco Viejo isn’t for everyone. But for those who like off-the-beaten path vacations in destinations, it freakin’ rules!
